Do I need a consultation if my dog seems fine?

Most people who book with me already have something going on. That is usually what makes someone reach out in the first place.You do not need a problem to get something out of this. You see your dog every day, which makes patterns hard to catch. Things that read as "that is just how she is" are sometimes worth a second look, and most pet parents were never trained to know the difference.A consult puts an experienced set of eyes on your dog as a whole. We go through exactly what your dog is eating, whether it is working for them, what it is doing for their body, what I like about it, and my honest read on the company, the ingredient quality, and whether the food fits your dog's life stage. If you want recommendations, that is part of it too.You also leave with a written report. It becomes part of your dog's record, something you can keep and come back to.The bigger reason is preventative care. Waiting until a dog is visibly declining is common, and I would rather get ahead of it. There are also a lot of small things I have picked up over years in this industry that I have never seen in a textbook or in a professional course. Those tend to be the parts people find most useful.The Vet Visit Prep Sheet is included for the same reason. Vet appointments move fast. Walking in with specific questions about your dog's breed and life stage helps you get more out of the time you have.

Am I going to have to switch my dog's food?

Not necessarily, and rarely all of it.A lot of people are already feeding something good. What I am looking at is the whole picture. Ten brands can all be genuinely high quality and still not be the right fit for one specific dog, once you factor in breed, lifestyle, symptoms, and how that dog's body is actually responding. Sometimes the better fit is a smaller brand that costs less than what someone is already buying.More often the changes are adjustments rather than a full switch. Water in the bowl. A different rotation. Whole vegetables, fruit, or pumpkin added in. Mixing formats.If you tell me you spend $80 a month and want to stay there or pull back, that is the number we work with. I am not here to talk you into spending more.

My dog has a sensitive stomach. Should I really be changing anything?

This is one of the most common things I hear. A dog finally settles on a food, nobody wants to touch it, and I completely understand that.Here is how I think about it. I like rotating dogs through different brands once or twice a year. Different companies source from different farms in different states, which means what goes into your dog is not identical bag to bag. In my experience variety tends to be good for a dog, in the same way most of us think it is good for a kid to play outside in the dirt.A sensitive stomach does not have to be permanent. In a lot of the dogs I have worked with it is a starting point, and small introductions over time widen what they can handle. I am happy to walk you through what that could look like for your dog.If you want to stay on one food, that is a completely valid choice and I will support it. I just want you to know the other options are there.

Should I do a video call, a phone call, or the written intake form?

Whatever you are most comfortable with. There is no wrong answer.On a video or phone call I can follow the conversation as it goes and ask follow-up questions in the moment. That happens naturally and it is a format I really enjoy.The written intake form is about 12 pages. It is long on purpose. It walks through every detail, including questions that may seem irrelevant. Those are often the point. One small clue is frequently what cracks the case, and it is hard to know in advance which detail that will be. It is a bit like detective work.I email the form over. You can print it and fill it out by hand, or fill it out as a PDF, then send it back either way. I will usually have a few follow-up questions, so your report may take an extra day depending on when I get those answers back.You can also start with the written form and switch to a call if you decide you would rather talk it through.

What does the consultation actually cover?

We start with what you are hoping to get out of it. Some people want a general education on their pets breed and on nutrition. Others come in with a specific goal like weight management, introducing new foods, or building a plan around a budget or a schedule.From there we cover the food and what it is doing for your dog, what to watch for, feeding routine and timing, vaccine and checkup scheduling, breed predispositions, grooming, costs and more. Every report comes out different. A French Bulldog owner working on weight management and a Chihuahua owner working on weight management get very different reports. Bulldogs tend to run lower energy, so the plan has to be realistic about how much exercise is actually going to happen. With a Chihuahua the questions lean more toward meal frequency and texture. Same goal, different dog, different plan.

Question 6

Why not just ask ChatGPT or search online?

You can, and general information is not a bad place to start. The difference is experience and specificity.An AI tool will give you an answer that sounds confident. So will a lot of pet marketing. Raw feeding is a good example. There are people online who will tell you it is the only correct way to feed a dog. It is not the right call for every dog, every budget, every breed, or every household. If you have a baby crawling around the kitchen, raw handling is a real consideration. A general answer cannot know that about you.What I bring is more than 8 years working with pet parents one on one, on the retail floor and in consultations, on top of my certification. I have worked with 8 week old puppies and with 18 year old dogs carrying long medical histories. I have also seen what happens after a recommendation, which is the part generic advice never follows up on.Every dog deserves care that is personal. Generic advice is fine. Personal advice is better.

What are you actually trying to achieve for my dog?

Longevity, but not the way that word usually gets used. I am not trying to add years for the sake of years. A 19 year old dog who spent 10 of those years struggling through medical issues, surgeries, and medication is hard on the dog and hard on everyone around them.The goal is a dog who reaches 19 and is only really slowing down at the very end. Living well the whole way through.Dogs move through their life stages much faster than we do, so changes show up faster for them in both directions. That cuts the wrong way with poor nutrition. It also cuts the right way. Small changes often show results sooner than people expect.

What happens when I click Book Now?

You go to my Calendly page. You pick a time, enter your name and payment information, and fill out a short questionnaire.One of the questions asks whether you want a video or phone call or the written intake form. If you choose the written form, I email it over. You fill it out and send it back, and I get started from there. I will most likely reach out with a few follow-up questions once I have read through it.Payment happens at booking.
