Disclaimer

Please read this page carefully. It applies to simplypetwell.com (the "Site"), to our consultations, and to every report, plan, worksheet, guide, email, and post we produce. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
Education purposes only

All content provided by Simply PetWell LLC ("Simply PetWell") is educational and informational. It is intended to help you understand your dog's nutrition, ask better questions, and make more informed decisions in partnership with your veterinarian. It is not medical advice and must not be treated as a substitute for professional veterinary care.

We are not veterinarians

Sophia Banta is a certified Pet Nutrition Coach through the North American Veterinary Community and holds AAVSB RACE approved provider credentials. These are coursework and continuing education credentials. They are not veterinary licensure. Simply PetWell is not a veterinary practice and no one at Simply PetWell is a licensed veterinarian, a registered veterinary technician, a board certified veterinary nutritionist, or a licensed animal behaviorist.
We do not diagnose conditions. We do not treat, cure, or prevent disease. We do not prescribe, adjust, or discontinue medication. We do not interpret laboratory results as a diagnosis. We do not independently formulate therapeutic or prescription diets for a diagnosed medical condition. Where a dog has or may have a medical condition, our role is to provide nutrition education alongside the care your veterinarian directs, and we will tell you plainly when something needs a veterinarian rather than a nutrition plan.

No veterinarian client patient relationship

Using the Site, booking a consultation, or receiving any material from us does not create a veterinarian client patient relationship. Only a licensed veterinarian who has examined your dog can establish that relationship, diagnose your dog, or prescribe treatment.

Always work with your veterinarian

We ask every client to maintain an ongoing relationship with a licensed veterinarian and to review our recommendations with that veterinarian before acting on them, particularly where your dog:

  • Has a diagnosed medical condition

  • Is taking medication of any kind

  • Is pregnant, nursing, a young puppy, or a senior

  • Has a history of pancreatitis, kidney disease, liver disease, cancer, diabetes, or any condition requiring a therapeutic diet

  • Has known allergies or a history of adverse reactions

  • Is showing new, worsening, or unexplained symptoms

Never disregard, delay, or discontinue professional veterinary advice because of something you read on this Site or heard in a consultation.

Emergencies

Simply PetWell is not an emergency service. We cannot respond to urgent situations, and messages may not be seen for some time.

If your dog is showing signs of an emergency, including difficulty breathing, collapse, seizure, bloating or a distended abdomen, unproductive retching, uncontrolled bleeding, suspected poisoning, repeated vomiting or diarrhea, refusal to eat or drink, severe pain, or sudden behavior change, contact your veterinarian or your nearest emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

For suspected poisoning, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control center right away.

Individual results vary

Every dog is different. Genetics, breed, age, history, underlying conditions, medication, environment, stress, activity, the home, the season, and how consistently a plan is followed all affect the outcome. Two dogs with the same symptom can need entirely different approaches, and the same approach can produce different results.

Nothing on this Site, in any report, or in any consultation is a promise, guarantee, or prediction of any particular result. Any example, story, or outcome we describe is the experience of that dog and should not be read as typical or expected.

Diet changes carry risk

Changing a dog's food, adding supplements, or altering a routine can cause digestive upset, appetite changes, weight change, allergic or adverse reactions, nutrient imbalance, or interaction with medication or an existing condition. Introduce changes gradually, watch your dog closely, and stop and contact your veterinarian if anything concerns you. You accept these risks and remain responsible for every decision you make about your dog.

Products, supplements, and brands

Any product, food, supplement, or brand we mention is mentioned for education. We do not manufacture, test, or control any of them. Formulations, sourcing, and availability change without notice, and a product that was appropriate when we wrote about it may not remain so.

Statements about foods and supplements have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory agency, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Supplements are not regulated with the rigor applied to medications. Always confirm suitability with your veterinarian, particularly where your dog takes medication.

Affiliate relationships

We do not currently earn commission on anything we recommend. If we join an affiliate program in the future, we will disclose it clearly and update this page. Our recommendations are made on the merits and will never be determined by commission.

Testimonials and reviews

Testimonials on the Site reflect the real experiences of real clients who gave written permission for their words to be shared. They are individual experiences, they are not verified by any independent party, and they are not a guarantee that you will have the same experience. No one is paid or otherwise compensated for a testimonial.

Accuracy and completeness

We prepare our recommendations using reputable sources and the information you provide. We cannot verify what you tell us, and our analysis is only as accurate as your intake form and your description of your dog.

We work to keep our content accurate and current, but nutrition science evolves and errors are possible. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any content, and we are not liable for any error or omission. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability.

External links

The Site and our materials may link to third party websites and resources. We do not control them, we are not responsible for their content or accuracy, and a link is not an endorsement.

Scope of practice

We do not provide veterinary medicine, behavioral therapy or behavior modification for aggression or serious behavioral conditions, training services, grooming advice beyond general education, breeding advice, or legal or financial advice. Where a question falls outside our scope, we will tell you and, where we can, point you toward the right kind of professional.

Use of this Site

Simply using the Site does not create a professional relationship of any kind between you and Simply PetWell. If you rely on any information on the Site, you do so entirely at your own risk.

We may update this Disclaimer at any time by posting a revised version with a new "Last updated" date.
